To help keep your skin looking young and beautiful for as long as possible before the signs of aging really take hold can sometimes feel like an almost impossible task. Getting into a skin care routine is the best way of looking after your skin on a daily basis, and once you get into the routine it will become so much easier.

The best skin care routine advice we can give you is to follow these very simple tasks each day;

  • Cleaning
  • Exfoliating
  • Moisturising
  • Sun protection

Now we are fully aware that everybody’s skin is different so you may have sensitive skin, dry skin or even sun damaged skin, but it is never too late to start a daily skin care routine.

    Step One - Cleaning.

It may sound like we're stating the obvious here but making sure that your skin is free from any makeup, lotions, cream etc before going to bed is one of the first things to take care of. Not removing these types of products from your face before going to sleep can clog up your skins pores and ultimately cause spots or black heads.

At the end of each day make sure you remove all makeup with your preferred make up remover, be careful when removing makeup from around the eyes as your skin is very delicate around this area. Once you are makeup free, rinse your face with warm water and dry thoroughly with a soft towel.

    Step Two - Exfoliation

The second step to follow for your skin care routine is to exfoliate your skin at least once a week. The benefits to this will be
noticeable after a couple of weeks of the routine as you are removing dead skin cells from your face. Exfoliating as part of your skin routine will help you to achieve that fresh face look as your complexion will be lightened and your skin will become smooth to the touch.

You can of course purchase facial scrubs from high street stores, however make sure you choose one that has small grains contained within the scrub, as the larger ones can sometimes be a little too harsh on your facial skin especially around the eyes. Apply by working the facial scrub into the skin in a circular motion, then rinse off with warm water and use a wet flannel or a soft body sponge to remove from around the eyes.

    Step Three - Moisturising

Moisturising is a fundamental part of any skin care routine. Having dry skin is not nice so keeping your skin hydrated by using a natural moisturiser or face cream can help reduce the appearance of dry skin. If you have sensitive skin finding the right moisturiser can be a little trickier, that is why we have developed a range of moisturisers and body lotions suited for people who have sensitive skin which contain no chemicals that can cause skin irritation.

Moisturise your skin once or twice a day but not too much as moisturising can block facial pores as well. You can tell quite quickly when your skin needs a little moisturiser as it may appear tight and become a little a flaky.

    Step Four - Sun Protection

This is the most important step to remember in your skin care routine as keeping your skin protected from the harmful suns ray's is the number one cause of skin damage.  Sometimes the facial skin damage can appear as brown sun spots, or facial wrinkles of which both can be very difficult to get rid of.

Applying sun cream as part of your daily skin care routine will help defend your skin from the sun. Choosing a sun cream that has a factor 30 (SPF) then applying it to the face especially on the bridge of the nose, cheeks and forehead as these areas are especially susceptible to skin damage.

Sometimes you need to think carefully about your enviromental exposure.  For example, If you do a lot of driving, your face could be damaged on one side more than the other, as one side of your face will be exposed to more sun as you drive. The suns ray's can also be stronger as they are intensified through the car window glass, so applying a bit of sun cream can help protect your face.

By following this simple four-step process as a daily skin care routine, you will hopefully stay looking beautiful for longer and keep those wrinkles at bay. What is your skincare routine and what is your hot tip for better skin?
